Anonymous seating areas
An area with seat booking sells seats instead of desks. Its desks cannot belong to anybody.
Normally a member picks a particular desk. If you switch seat booking on for an area, the area itself becomes the bookable unit: the member books a seat rather than a desk, and never says where they sat. The switch is called Area Booking in the app and Book a seat instead of a desk on the web.
The number of seats decides how many bookings the area accepts on the same day. Once it is reached, the area is full.
What follows from that:
- No fixed desk. Desks in such an area cannot be assigned to anybody. The assignment list hides them, and an import row naming such a desk is rejected. See Assign a fixed desk.
- The setting belongs to the area, not to the space. You can run named desks and open zones side by side.
- Switching over costs no booking. If you switch an existing area over, the desk bookings already made still count against the number of seats.
- A scan at the desk still works. Whoever scans a sticker in such an area books a seat in the area.
