Access & doors
Problem

The door opens for nobody

When every door fails at once, it is almost always the space's Nuki connection, not a single lock.

What you see

Several members report on the same day that the door will not open. The app says Unlock failed. In Setup, Locks (Nuki) reads not working, or the list shows the task Reconnect the locks.

Why

All doors of a space hang off a single Nuki account. If that account is not connected, or Nuki has rejected the access, every door unlock in this space fails immediately. The connection screen says so itself: No Nuki account is linked yet. Until you connect one, door unlocks in this space will fail.

A rejected access looks different from a short outage at Nuki. A rejected access shows Reconnect needed and stays that way until you act. An outage at Nuki leaves the status on Connected and passes by itself.

What you can do

  1. Open Setup and then Locks (Nuki).
  2. Read the Connection line. If it says Not connected or Reconnect needed, store a new token. See Connect Nuki.
  3. If it says Connected, check under Available smart locks whether the locks are listed at all. An empty list means the token belongs to a different Nuki account.
  4. If only one door is affected, open it and check whether a lock is selected under Smart Lock at all. Test Unlock tells you at once whether it is this door.
  5. Until the connection is back, nobody gets in through the app. Keep the key ready and tell your members.

If that is not enough

Check in the Nuki app whether the lock itself is still reachable and whether the battery is holding up. If the app does something wrong: report a problem.
