Which contract applies

A member can hold several contracts at once. A scheduled plan change leaves the running contract in place until the end of the month and queues its successor behind it. “The member's contract” is therefore only well defined in relation to a date.

The rule behind it: every price, every allowance and every plan name follows the date it describes.

That is why the member list holds exactly one row per person, never one per contract. A scheduled change appears on that row as → from . Ending on appears only when no successor is queued behind it, so for a real leaver.

Two consequences that often surprise people:

• The record of a past member still shows contract data. It falls back to the last contract that person held, so that the Past and Upcoming tabs can open a record at all. That is a label, not a price.
• A monthly allowance belongs to the month it describes. A booking in a later month meets a fresh allowance.
