The code from the email

To sign up and sign in, selfdesk sends a six-digit code. It is valid for 10 minutes and only once.

When you enter your email address, selfdesk sends you an email with the subject Your sign-in code for selfdesk. It holds a six-digit code and a link. Both sign you in; you only need one of them.

The code

  • It is valid for 10 minutes and for one sign-in.
  • You enter it on the device you want to sign in on. The email may be on another device, for example on your phone while you sign in on your computer.
  • After five wrong entries the code stops working. Request a new one then.
  • The code is not in the subject line, so it does not show on the lock screen.

The link

  • The link only signs in the device you open it on.
  • It opens a page that shows your address. You are signed in only once you tap the button there. Programs that check links in emails in advance therefore do not use it up.

A new code

  • You can request a new code 30 seconds after the last one at the earliest.
  • At most five codes per hour go out to one address. After that you wait until the hour is over.
  • If you received several emails, the code from the newest one counts.

What applies here

  • If you did not request a code and still got an email, someone typed in your address. Nothing happens without the code; you can delete the email.
  • Do not pass the code on. Neither your space nor selfdesk asks for it.
